Lost All Car Keys in Columbia, NJ | Mobile Key Replacement
Lost every car key? We make a new one at your car
If you've lost every key to your car, Duvall Lock & Key can make a new one from scratch, right where the car is parked. We're a licensed, bonded and insured mobile locksmith based in Columbia, NJ (NJ Locksmith Lic. #34LS00072800), and we work 24/7. Owner Tyler Duvall drives out in a van set up as a rolling workshop, with key machines and programming tools on board. He cuts the key to your lock and programs it to your car, so you're not stuck paying for a tow to the dealer.
What "all keys lost" really means
Losing your only key is different from needing a spare. When you still have one working key, a new one can usually be copied from it. When there's no working key left, there's nothing to copy. The new key has to be built from the car itself.
On most modern cars that's two jobs in one:
- Cutting: the metal blade has to match your door and ignition locks.
- Programming: the chip, remote or smart key has to be paired with the car's computer, or the engine won't start even if the key turns.
Many locksmiths send these jobs straight to the dealer, especially on European cars. Lost-key jobs are one of our specialties, including BMW, Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Porsche, Volvo and Saab, and we handle many other makes too.
What to expect when Tyler arrives
- ID and ownership check. Before opening anything or making a key, Tyler checks your photo ID and proof of ownership, like the registration or title. This protects you and every other car owner.
- Free estimate. You get a free estimate before any work starts.
- OEM or aftermarket, your choice. We carry both. An OEM key matches what the dealer sells. An aftermarket key usually costs less. Tyler will give you both options for your car before he begins.
- Cutting and programming at the car. The key is cut to the lock and programmed to the car, whether it's a basic chip key, a flip key, a remote-head key or a push-to-start smart key.
- Testing. You'll see the key open the doors and start the engine before the job is done.
For a few cars, the module has to come out to be programmed. If that applies to yours, Tyler will tell you up front.
Have this ready when you call
A few details make the call faster and the estimate more accurate:
- Year, make and model of the car
- The VIN, visible through the windshield on the driver's side
- Photo ID and the registration or title
- Where the car is parked, whether that's your driveway in Columbia, a work lot or the side of the road
If your registration is locked inside the car, say so when you call. Tyler can talk you through what will work as proof of ownership.
Practical tips while you wait
- Don't keep trying random keys in the ignition. Forcing the wrong key can damage the lock.
- Check for a spare one more time. A forgotten valet key or old spare in a drawer can change the job from "all keys lost" to a simple duplicate.
- Leave the car where it is. Since we come to the car, there's no need to arrange a tow.
- Make two keys while we're there. Once you have a working key again, adding a spare is the simplest key job there is. Don't wait until you're down to one.

Frequently asked questions
I lost every key to my car. Can you really make a new one?
Yes. We make the key from scratch, cut it to the car and program it to the car's computer. That includes BMW, Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Porsche, Volvo and Saab, along with many other makes.
Do I need to tow my car to the dealer?
No. Tyler comes to wherever the car is and makes the key there. For a few cars the module has to come out to be programmed, and he'll explain that before starting.
Why do you need my ID and registration?
We check photo ID and proof of ownership before opening any car or making any key. It keeps keys out of the wrong hands, including keys to your car.
